For Zweifel Pomy-Chips, it is once again the case that after the record year is before the record year. The company from Zurich Höngg sold more snacks than ever before in 2023 to mark its 65th anniversary. The company wants to continue to grow this year.

"This is the eighth sales record in a row," said Zweifel CEO Christoph Zweifel on Wednesday at a media breakfast to mark the annual figures. Specifically, turnover rose by 5 percent to 300 million Swiss francs. The company, which is famous for its paprika chips, does not disclose its profits.

Zweifel produced more than 10,000 tons of potato chips and snacks at its Spreitenbach factory for the first time last year. According to the CEO, this success is not only due to the largest retail sector, but also to the food service and convenience sectors.

Investments in production

In future, the company wants to produce even larger quantities of potato chips and snacks. However, production is also set to become more sustainable and efficient.

The company is investing over 40 million in a new site in Spreitenbach. Construction is due to start in summer 2024. The new "snack plant" is scheduled to start production in spring 2027.

Zweifel also wants to invest in the production of Berger products at the site in Münsingen. The potato chips group took over the company known for its "Spitzbuben" in 2020.

More than 500 employees work at the three locations in Spreitenbach, Höngg and Münsingen.
