Earthquake Service Reports Light Tremor Near Pruntrut

On Sunday morning at 7.07am, an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.6 was felt in the vicinity of Pruntrut, Switzerland. The epicentre of the quake was located 14 kilometres southwest of Pruntrut at a depth of 5.3 kilometres. According to the Swiss Seismological Service (SED) of the ETH Zurich, the quake was also felt 72 kilometres away in Häfelfingen. Earthquakes of this magnitude usually do not cause any damage. Two weaker aftershocks were recorded at 7.15am and 7.44am. A similar quake was recorded in the same area at the end of August. The SED records between 1000 and 1500 earthquakes each year, of which only 10 to 20 are felt by the population.
