The business umbrella organization Economiesuisse is less than enthusiastic about the introduction of the OECD minimum tax for large companies at the beginning of January. The Federal Council's decision on Friday is risky - after all, the majority of countries that have agreed on the tax have not yet implemented the regulation.

The associated disadvantage for Swiss companies must be compensated for as quickly as possible with location measures, Economiesuisse demanded in a press release on Friday.

The federal government and cantons have a responsibility to take targeted measures to ensure Switzerland's attractiveness as a business location and to keep the added value of international companies and the associated jobs and tax payments in the country.

However, Economiesuisse welcomes the fact that at least the international supplementary tax has been waived for the time being, it added.
