At their extraordinary meeting on Saturday, the delegates of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives (FMC) elected Edith Spillmann as the new President of the Assembly of Delegates. She will take office on July 1.
As Migros also announced on Saturday, Spillmann was a member of the Migros Zurich Cooperative Committee for eight years. She has been a member of the Assembly of Delegates of the FMC and the Migros Support Fund working group since 2020. The 63-year-old is Head of HR Business Partner at Arnold AG, a subsidiary of BKW, and lives in Bülach ZH.
Spillmann succeeds the previous President Marianne Meyer, who was not confirmed in office. Meyer will continue in office until the end of the legislative period on June 30, 2024, according to the press release.
Three candidates - Séghira Egli, Dominique Imhof, Edith Spillmann and Marianne Meyer - stood for election. The election was actually held on March 23. However, Meyer was not confirmed in office at that time and the election process was then restarted. On June 15, a majority of delegates decided to hold an extraordinary delegates' meeting to decide on the presidency for the two-year term of office.
The Assembly of Delegates is the supreme body of the FMC. It consists of 111 members and decides, among other things, on basic business policy and amendments to the Articles of Association. It also decides on the appropriation of Migros' balance sheet profit.
