The election complaint against the newly elected Schaffhausen Councillor of States Simon Stocker (SP) is not yet off the table. It has been referred to the Schaffhausen High Court. The complaint questions whether Stocker's actual place of residence is in Schaffhausen.

One of the two complainants has decided to lodge an administrative appeal with the High Court of the Canton of Schaffhausen against last week's negative decision by the cantonal government. This was announced on Tuesday by the law firm representing the complainant.

According to the press release, the Schaffhausen government council did not even address the crucial question of Stocker's place of residence in its decision. It was merely stated that he had a sole proprietorship in Schaffhausen and also paid taxes there.

Apartment in Zurich

According to the complaint, Stocker's actual center of life is in Zurich, where he lives with his wife and their child. He had only rented a small apartment in Schaffhausen in order to register his residence and pursue his political ambitions.

Stocker rejected the accusations as soon as they became known. It was a "grotesque insinuation". The center of his family's life is in Schaffhausen. His wife needs the apartment in Zurich during the week for professional reasons because she works in Lenzburg AG.
