Ex-hurricane "Kirk" has caused firefighting operations and disruption to rail traffic in southwest Germany. The S-Bahn line between Stuttgart-Vaihingen and Filderstadt was closed due to a damaged overhead line, according to a Deutsche Bahn spokeswoman.
An emergency bus service is being set up. In addition, a tree is lying on the tracks near Freudenstadt. As a result, there will be isolated journey cancellations.
According to the police, several trees also fell on roads in Baden-Württemberg in the early morning. Fire departments were called out to more than 30 incidents in the Freiburg area and in Offenburg and the surrounding area.
The German Weather Service (DWD) is expecting heavy squalls in Stuttgart on Thursday and has warned of gale-force winds in the Black Forest. The former hurricane "Kirk", which is moving over Germany, is responsible for this.
