The Board of Directors of CH Media has appointed Fabian Hägler as Editor-in-Chief of the Aargauer Zeitung (AZ). The 46-year-old was previously head of the Aargau department and deputy editor-in-chief, as CH Media announced on Thursday.
Hägler will take up his new role on February 1, 2024 as the successor to Rolf Cavalli, who is moving to Ringier. Hägler, who joined AZ as a local editor in 1998, will be "a high-profile journalist with many years of management experience to take over as editor-in-chief", according to the press release.
The Aargau department, which Hägler has headed for ten years, has developed very well in terms of content and digital transformation during this time. "He has done a very good job as head of the department," says publisher Peter Wanner.
Hägler comes from Freiamt and studied English, history and political science at the University of Zurich.
