Fatal head-on collision on the bypass road in Wattwil SG

A 43-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision between a car and a truck on the bypass road in Wattwil on Tuesday afternoon. According to a press release, the car driver drove into the lane of the truck.
The accident occurred at 2.10 p.m., as the St. Gallen cantonal police wrote in a statement on Tuesday. The woman was driving on the H16 bypass road in the direction of Ricken when a 28-year-old man in a truck approached her.
Shortly before the Wattwil tunnel, there was a head-on collision, the force of which caused the car to be thrown into a meadow. According to the press release, the truck came to a standstill on an embankment.
The emergency services were only able to determine that the 43-year-old Swiss woman from the canton of St. Gallen had died. The 28-year-old truck driver was uninjured.
