Five FC Schaffhausen fans waived their right to make statements about a controversial banner at the Zurich High Court on Monday. They allegedly held up a banner at a match in Winterthur that read "Winti Fraue figgä und verhaue".

At the lower court, the Winterthur district court, the men had admitted that the slogan had been out of line. However, it could not be understood as a call for violence. The banner was a reaction to a banner of the Winterthur fans.

The Winterthur District Court acquitted the six men in summer 2021, one of whom was dispensed from the High Court. The public prosecutor did not agree with this and appealed the verdicts to the High Court. He demanded convictions for public incitement to commit crimes. Other fans could have reacted to the chant, which was also chanted, said the public prosecutor.
