The Federal Council is ending its cooperation with three Palestinian non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The reason for this is a breach of contract concerning the code of conduct and the contractual anti-discrimination clause.
A total of eleven NGOs that are partners of the cooperation program for the Middle East were examined to determine whether they adhere to the code of conduct and the contractual anti-discrimination clause of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). No irregularities were found at eight NGOs, as the Federal Council wrote on Wednesday.
Six Palestinian and five Israeli NGOs were audited. The Federal Council did not name the three Palestinian NGOs affected by the suspension in the press release. Nor did it provide any information on the contractual violations identified. The contracts with the three NGOs will now not be extended.
So far, no irregularities have been found in the investigation of financial flows in connection with Switzerland's partner NGOs. A few days after the Hamas attack, the FDFA was tasked with investigating the financial flows in connection with partner NGOs.
