Fire Department Still on Duty After Major Fire in Menznauer Factory

On the day after the major fire at the wood processor Swiss Krono AG, firefighters were still on the scene on Thursday. The smouldering wood chip piles had to be extinguished with great effort. According to the Lucerne Fire Inspector Vinzenz Graf, the fire brigade had worked through the night and was still on duty with a reduced staff on Thursday. The parts of the 10,000 square metre hall that had caught fire had to be dismantled. The still smouldering wood chips were separated with a digger and well watered. The fire on the Swiss Krono site had broken out at 4.30am on Wednesday. Up to 240 firefighters were involved in the operation. The fire had affected the recycling wood preparation, but according to the company, had no major impact on the production of the wood material manufacturer.nnnnnn
