According to official figures, five civilians have been killed in a Russian drone attack in the northern Ukrainian region of Sumy. The house in the village of Nova Sloboda was completely destroyed in the attack, the public prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday. Two combat drones had attacked the village, which is just under six kilometers from the Russian border, in the morning. The authorities are investigating a possible war crime.
The public prosecutor's office also announced that it was investigating another case of a possible shooting of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian soldiers. On Tuesday, a drone video became known in which three Ukrainian soldiers were allegedly seen being shot near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhya region after being abandoned. The incident is said to have taken place on Sunday. Recently, the Ukrainian public prosecutor's office had already begun investigating two other alleged shootings of Ukrainians near Avdiivka and Vessele in the Donetsk region.
Ukraine has been fending off a Russian invasion for almost two years. According to Ukrainian information, over 120,000 reports of possible war crimes have already been registered. International human rights organizations have accused Russia in particular of repeated violations of the Geneva Conventions on the treatment of prisoners of war and the protection of civilians.
