Federal Councillor Albert Rösti explained the goals of his department at a summer meeting with media representatives in the Bernese Oberland. One of these is the secure supply of electricity in Switzerland.

On Wednesday, Rösti invited members of the media to a summer talk in his home region. At Lake Oeschinen above Kandersteg BE, the Bernese Oberland native spoke about personal matters as well as current topics at the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC).

For the head of the Federal Department of Energy, reserve power plants are at the top of the priority list for the electricity supply, as the existing ones will have to be replaced in 2026. The massive price fluctuations in the electricity market should also be limited.

Despite the adoption of the Electricity Act, the goal of providing Switzerland with sufficient electricity is a hurdle race, said Rösti. This is particularly the case due to objections, for example to the solar project in Grengiols VS.
