The former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Generali Switzerland, Martin Zellweger, passed away shortly before Christmas at the age of 83. Thanks to his visionary ideas, the insurance industry received new impetus, as Generali Switzerland wrote in an obituary.

Zellweger chaired the Board of Directors of Generali Switzerland from 2005 to 2011. Prior to that, he had been Managing Director of the insurance company for almost 30 years, according to the obituary published on Friday in the Tages-Anzeiger and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Under his leadership, the small life insurer Fortuna had established itself as the stately Generali in Switzerland.

After a richly fulfilling and successful life, Zellweger passed away peacefully after a short illness, the Zellweger family wrote in a further obituary. Zellweger died on December 23, 2023.
