Former Economic Captain Rainer E. Gut is Dead.

Rainer E. Gut, the former president of Credit Suisse (CS), has passed away at the age of 91. UBS, which has taken over CS, confirmed the news to the news agency Keystone-SDA on Friday, following a report by the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ). Gut was a prominent figure in the Swiss banking industry, having served as the president of CS from 1989 to 1997. During his tenure, he was credited with modernising the bank and helping it to become one of the largest financial institutions in Switzerland. He was also a member of the board of directors of UBS from 1998 to 2003. His death marks the end of an era in Swiss banking.
