Former ERZ director stands before Zurich district court

The former director of Zurich's waste disposal company is to stand trial today, Wednesday, at Zurich District Court. Urs Pauli has confessed and the proceedings will therefore be shortened. Among other things, the public prosecutor's office is accusing him of multiple counts of dishonest management.
The former director of Entsorgung & Recycling Zürich (ERZ) is to be sentenced to a conditional custodial sentence of two years and an unconditional fine of 180 daily rates of 60 francs.
Unless there is a surprise in court today, Wednesday, this sentence will actually be imposed. It is a proposed sentence by the prosecution and defense, which could be negotiated together due to the confession.

From 2015 onwards, numerous irregularities came to light at ERZ. An external investigation showed that municipal waste disposal was a "parallel world with its own rules".
In the beginning, it was about a company car for Pauli worth 130,000 francs, then about company cars for the entire management. After that, a vintage car museum for historic refuse collection vehicles, a swimming area in a former sewage basin and a facility for emus and wild birds were built on his own initiative.
This parallel world was made possible above all because Pauli enjoyed the full confidence of the Zurich City Council.
