Retour au fil d'actualité

In the second round of the Geneva cantonal elections, a heated battle between the left and right is expected for the two seats in the Council of States. The bourgeois parties have a good chance of breaking the red-green dominance in the cantonal representation that has been in place since 2007. Six candidates are standing for election, including two from the new group "Liberté le peuple d'abord". However, this small party is not expected to have much of a chance. The established parties are represented by two duos of well-known personalities. The united bourgeois parties (FDP, Mitte, SVP and MCG) are sending MCG politician Mauro Poggia and SVP National Councillor Céline Amaudruz into the race. They will be up against the incumbents Lisa Mazzone from the Greens and Carlo Sommaruga from the SP.
