Four out of five Uri cantonal councillors win re-election

In Uri, four of the five current councillors have been confirmed in office. These are Christian Arnold (SVP), Urs Janett (FDP), Daniel Furrer and Urban Camenzind (center). Cantonal Councillor Céline Huber (center) also made the leap into government as a new member.

Urs Janett (FDP) received the most votes with 9768, according to the results from the canton of Uri. He was followed by Christian Arnold (SVP) with 9730 votes, Céline Huber (center) with 8158 votes, Urban Camenzind (center) with 7555 votes and Daniel Furrer (center) with 7487 votes.

SP government councillor Dimitri Moretti received 6140 votes and missed out on the absolute majority of 6966 votes. Five of the seven members of the government stood again in the general elections.

Center candidate Hermann Epp, who received 6882 votes, and FDP councillor Georg Simmen with 6085 votes also fell just short of the absolute majority.

The lowest vote-getters were the independent Sämi Gisler (1429 votes), Hansueli Gisler (SVP, 2677 votes), Luzia Gisler (GLP, 3996 votes) and Petra Muheim (FDP, 4766 votes).

The 2nd ballot will take place on April 21.
