Four foreign drivers were stopped by police on the A2 highway between Airolo and Faido in the Sopraceneri region of Ticino on Wednesday. The drivers were taking part in a well-known car rally through Europe.

A total of five participants in the rally were checked, as reported by the Ticino cantonal police on Friday. One of them allegedly failed to keep a safe distance and two others behaved inappropriately and caused excessive noise.

Another rally participant was caught in Sant'Antonino TI at a speed of 158 kilometers per hour, with a legal limit of 120 km/h, the report continued. All four drivers were fined and reported to the public prosecutor's office.
