Freiburg arson kit builder remanded in custody

Following the discovery of homemade incendiary devices in Courtepin FR, the alleged perpetrator has been remanded in custody. He is said to have acted alone.
This was announced by the Freiburg police on Friday. The incendiary devices were discovered in the 28-year-old's apartment on Monday night. Nine residents of two apartment buildings were evacuated. They were able to return to their homes on the same day. No one was injured.
The suspected perpetrator had purchased the individual components for the incendiary devices separately, the police said. The incendiary devices consisted of a flammable liquid that was connected to a digital timer.
At the Swiss Army logistics center in Grolley, three army vehicles were damaged by flames from one of the homemade devices on Monday night. The army filed a criminal complaint. No information was available on the extent of the damage.
