Fribourg State Councillor Didier Castella has once again been caught driving with a blood alcohol level that is too high, for the second time since 2023. This time he was measured at 0.6 per mille.
Because this is a minor offence, Castella is allowed to keep his driver's license this time. A spokesperson for the Directorate of Institutions and Agriculture and Forestry said this on Monday at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency.
He confirmed local media reports. Castella was keen to communicate the incident because it was a relapse.
In October 2023, the State Councillor was stopped by the police after an official dinner at a congress in Grangeneuve FR. At the time, his blood alcohol level was measured at 0.82 per mille. He was subsequently stripped of his driving license and given a conditional fine of 20 daily rates of CHF 400.
According to the newspaper "La Liberté", the probation will not lapse because the new offense will only be punished with a fine.
