“Heavy Rain in Ticino – Landslide in Centovalli”

In the night of Friday, a lot of rain fell in the Swiss canton of Ticino. In Mosogno TI in the Onsernonetal, 190 millimeters of rain fell in the last 48 hours, according to SRF Meteo. Over 100 millimeters of rain also fell in Robiei in the Bavonatal at 1900 meters above sea level and in Cevio in the Maggiatal. This caused traffic disruptions on the road through the Maggiatal near Cevio, according to the TCS. In the Centovalli, the TCS warned of traffic disruptions due to a landslide between Camedo and Intragna. On the northern side of the Alps, up to 50 millimeters of rain fell between midnight and 7am on Friday, according to Meteonews. The weather services expect the weather to calm down on Friday, but there will still be rain in some parts of Switzerland, although less intense. In certain regions of Ticino and Graubünden, up to 50 millimeters of rain could still accumulate.
