Helicopter with four occupants involved in an accident at Sitterdorf TG airfield

A helicopter crashed on Saturday at Sitterdorf airfield in the canton of Thurgau during an approach to land. The helicopter tipped to one side, according to the police. The 30-year-old female pilot and three passengers aged between 23 and 60 were uninjured.

According to the Thurgau cantonal police, the helicopter sustained an unknown amount of damage. Soil was also contaminated and excavated.

The accident occurred at around 11.00 a.m., as a spokesperson for the Thurgau cantonal police told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. The cause of the accident was initially unclear. Specialists from the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (Sust) began an investigation. The helicopter was recovered by a specialist company.

The airfield is located in Zihlschlacht-Sitterdorf. It has been in existence since 1965 and has a 480 meter long and 20 meter wide grass runway. Among other things, sightseeing flights are offered from there. The facility also includes a leisure park and an animal park.
