US actress Pamela Anderson ("Baywatch") is to receive another award: She will be honored at the 20th Film Festival in Zurich. The 57-year-old will receive the "Golden Eye" for her multifaceted career and her outstanding performance in her new film "The Last Showgirl", as the festival announced on its website and Instagram. The actress will receive the award in person on October 4 before presenting her new film with director Gia Coppola.

If festival director Christian Jungen has his way, Anderson deserves an Oscar for the role: "We are therefore delighted to honor Pamela Anderson, this cult actress who many of us grew up with and who has reinvented herself time and again, at the ZFF," Jungen was quoted as saying. The official name of the festival is "Zurich Film Festival" (ZFF), without the umlaut, after the English spelling of the major Swiss city.

In "The Last Showgirl", Anderson plays dancer Shelley, who has been performing in one of the last traditional Las Vegas shows for over 30 years. When stage manager Eddie (Dave Bautista) announces the end of the long-running show, Shelley has to say goodbye to her dance family and the glittering world adorned with crystals and reorganize her life. Her best friend Annette (Jamie Lee Curtis) is there to help her.
