Beat Jans, the President of the Basel government, expressed his enthusiasm for the challenge of becoming a Federal Councillor on Friday. He highlighted his experience in the cantonal executive as being particularly valuable for the role, particularly in terms of team work and dealing with criticism. Jans expressed his gratitude to Switzerland for allowing him, as a child of a working-class family, to be able to run for the highest office. He stated that the fate of those who struggle would remain his driving force in politics.
