Investigation continues after knife attack near Swiss border

Following the knife attack that left three people dead in Hohentengen on the High Rhine near the Swiss border, the criminal investigation department and the public prosecutor's office are continuing their investigations. Among other things, they are looking into the motives of the 19-year-old suspect, who was remanded in custody on Wednesday.
The young man is accused of attacking and killing his parents and his 34-year-old brother with a knife on Tuesday evening in the German community near Kaiserstuhl AG.
The suspect's sister suffered serious injuries in the attack but survived, as investigators had reported. The 19-year-old with German and Italian citizenship is accused of three counts of manslaughter and attempted manslaughter.
Details about the course of the violent crime in an apartment building in the Hohentengen district of Lienheim also remained unclear at first. The investigators did not go into detail about the location of the incident, citing personal rights, and referred to an "eastern district community in the Waldshut district". According to the German news agency DPA, the attack took place in Hohentengen.
According to the investigators, the suspect's parents, aged 58 and 61, died at the scene. The family lived in the apartment building. The 34-year-old brother of the suspect died as a result of his injuries in hospital. The sister was taken to a clinic by rescue helicopter and was treated there.
