Jungwacht Blauring (Jubla) will be holding a national Whitsun camp in Wettingen AG in June 2025. So far, 10,500 people from all over German-speaking Switzerland have registered for the country's largest camp. A committee of well-known personalities is supporting the event - including Federal Councillor Viola Amherd, as announced by Jubla on Wednesday.
The magistrate herself was involved in Blauring Glis in Valais during her childhood and youth. This camp creates "unforgettable memories" for children and young people, Amherd is quoted as saying in the press release.
A total of 261 local groups, known as "Scharen", will take part in the camp called "Jublasurium". A volunteer organizing committee of one hundred people has been busy with the preparations for over three years, according to the press release. Jubla estimates that around 59,000 hours of voluntary work will go into organizing and running the event.
The last huge camp organized by a Swiss youth organization took place in the summer of 2022. Around 30,000 children and young people took part in the Scout National Camp (Bula) in Goms VS. This made it the largest Swiss scout camp of all time.
