Retour au fil d'actualité

A 28-year-old woman is due to appear in court today at the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona, Switzerland, to face charges of attempted murder and violation of the IS/Al-Kaida law, as well as illegal prostitution. In September 2022, the court sentenced her to nine years in prison and a fine of 2000 Swiss francs, as well as ordering her to undergo treatment in a secure facility. However, the prosecution is now seeking a harsher sentence of 14 years in prison, followed by a therapeutic measure. The woman is appealing the original sentence, hoping for a more lenient outcome. The incident occurred in 2020 when the woman, who was living in the canton of Ticino, attacked two randomly chosen customers in a Lugano department store with a bread knife. During the trial, she admitted that she had intended to kill her victims. The case has caused a great deal of media attention.
