During the summer holidays, traffic in Switzerland is expected to be heavier than usual, especially between Friday and Monday. On Friday, a long traffic jam formed on the A2 highway in front of the Gotthard-Nordportal in Uri, stretching for around ten kilometres and causing a wait time of almost two hours. In the canton of Ticino, a three kilometre long traffic jam was reported between Quinto and Airolo. The Swiss Traffic Club (TCS) predicts that the busiest times will be on the A2 and A13 highways, and that drivers should expect long wait times.
