Zurich National Councillor Marionna Schlatter is not running to succeed Green Party President Balthasar Glättli. Instead, she is running for Vice President, as she confirmed to the Keystone-SDA news agency on Tuesday evening.

Schlatter had previously reacted on X (formerly Twitter) to the announcement by former Geneva member of the Council of States Lisa Mazzone that she would be standing for the presidency of the Green Party: "Bravo, Lisa, on your candidacy. I would like to support you as vice president," she wrote.

The executive committee of the Green Party of the Canton of Zurich unanimously nominated Schlatter as vice president on Tuesday evening, as the cantonal party announced. Schlatter brings with her many years of party leadership experience. As a national parliamentarian, she is also a well-known and high-profile representative of the Greens, the statement said.
