Retour au fil d'actualité

The Swiss National Council has voted in favour of exploratory talks with the European Economic Area (EEA) Council in order to assess the possibility of joining the EEA. The motion was passed by 94 votes to 92, against the wishes of the Swiss government. The motion does not call for EEA membership or the initiation of accession talks, but rather for exploratory talks to properly evaluate the option of joining the EEA. The talks should focus on finding solutions to issues such as freedom of movement and freedom of establishment. The Swiss government opposes the motion, arguing that parallel talks with the EEA Council would only create confusion and that a report is already being prepared which will analyse various options, including EEA membership.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
