The nature conservation organizations welcome the Federal Administrative Court's decision to maintain the suspensive effect of the appeals against seven orders to shoot wolves in the cantons of Graubünden and Valais. This could prevent the potentially illegal shooting of wolves, it said. Shootings are irreversible.
The nature conservation organizations had carefully weighed up their complaints and only had orders examined where there was a fear of a violation of the principles of proportionality or legality, according to a statement issued by the Pro Natura organization on Friday.
The latest court ruling is "hopefully a first step towards returning to a professionally sound approach to wolves", according to the nature conservation organization. The suspensive effect of an appeal is the rule and a withdrawal is only justified in exceptional cases. However, such an exceptional case does not exist here.
