New Center for Separated Families Opens in Bern

The Zentrum für Familien in Trennung (Zfit) was opened in Bern on Friday as the first Swiss-wide pilot project. The Zfit is designed to support parents in finding a sustainable solution for their children in the event of a separation. Every year in Switzerland, around 30,000 children are affected by the divorce or separation of their parents. The Zfit aims to reduce conflict cases and relieve courts and the Children and Adults Protection Agency (Kesb). The pilot project is planned for two years and will be evaluated. If successful, it could be implemented nationwide. The project is a joint venture between the Canton of Bern, the City of Bern, the Guido Fluri Foundation, the Conference for Children and Adults Protection and the University Psychiatric Services Bern.nnnnnnnnnnnn
