As of Wednesday, the employees of the ground handling company Dnata at Geneva Airport are once again subject to a collective labor agreement (CLA). The agreement is valid for three years and provides the approximately 600 employees with better working conditions, including a wage increase of three percent and a one-off bonus.

Dnata staff at Geneva Airport have been without a contract since 2018. At the end of last year, part of the workforce walked off the job for eight hours shortly before the holidays, leading to delays and flight cancellations.

After negotiations between the management of the company from the United Arab Emirates and the VPOD union had always failed until then, an agreement was finally reached.

According to the VPOD press release, union secretary Jamshid Pouranpir was pleased with the outcome of the negotiations and spoke of a CLA "at a good level". Among other things, the agreement includes a wage increase of three percent and a one-off bonus of 500 francs. In addition, depending on the severity of the work, there will be further bonuses, more rest periods and compensation for Saturday work. Employees over the age of 50 will receive a sixth week of vacation.

Dnata employs around 600 people in Geneva. Among other things, they issue tickets and take care of passenger check-in and baggage transportation on the ground. The company works for airlines including Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Air France, KLM, British Airways, Iberia, Air Lingus and, in some cases, Easyjet.
