The news portal "Watson.ch" reports on the nomination of Beat Jans and Jon Pult as official SP candidates for the Federal Council under the title "SP ticket: solid, unsurprising and male":

"The SP is thus presenting a strong ticket to the united Federal Assembly. With two valid candidates. With Jans, urban Switzerland wins. The President of the Cantonal Government of Basel represents the second strongest economic region in Switzerland, a donor canton. That would be good for the Federal Council. And it would be satisfying for Basel - 50 years after Hans-Peter Tschudi and the disappointment of Eva Herzog's non-election last year.

Or a younger generation could win with Jon Pult. The 39-year-old ex-Juso, who has been a member of the National Council for one parliamentary term and has no executive experience, but is considered a political talent, would push the age limit in the Federal Council. Without Berset, all members are in their 60s. This rejuvenation would do the body good in terms of a broader representation of the population."
