The FDP parliamentary group is not recommending a vote in the election of the Federal Chancellor. This was announced by the FDP on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday evening. Four people are running to succeed Walter Thurnherr, who is stepping down.
They are Nathalie Goumaz and Gabriel Lüchinger from the SVP, the current Vice-Chancellor Viktor Rossi (GLP) and the independent Lukas Gresch-Brunner. The FDP has heard all four in the past few days.
The Liberals had already held talks with the two SP candidates for the Federal Council, Beat Jans and Jon Pult, last week. His parliamentary group would vote for a candidate on the official ticket, provided the concordance was respected, said parliamentary group leader Damien Cottier afterwards.
