Believers in Obwalden and Nidwalden want to support the peace conference on the Bürgenstock with spirituality. On Friday, they will be leading peace hikes from Stans NW and Sachseln OW to the Ranft OW, where Brother Klaus lived as a hermit.
"Let us accompany the conference with good thoughts and in prayer, united with all people who long for peace," says the invitation to the "Walk into the Ranft". The chapels in the Ranft will also remain open for prayers at night on the days of the conference.
Niklaus von Flüe lived as a hermit in the Ranft from 1467 to 1487. He is considered a peacemaker because he was able to settle a conflict within the Swiss Confederation in 1481. He was canonized in 1947.
Brother Klaus is still an important figure in the cantons of Obwalden and Nidwalden. There is a statue of him in the hall where the Nidwalden parliament meets.
