Pedestrian dies after collision with car in Orbe VD

An 86-year-old man was hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing in Orbe VD on Tuesday. Despite the rapid intervention of the people on the scene and the emergency services, the pedestrian died at the scene.
The driver overlooked the pedestrian for unknown reasons as he was crossing the pedestrian crossing, the Vaud cantonal police reported on Wednesday. Despite emergency braking, there was a collision with the pedestrian. The public prosecutor's office has opened a criminal investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident.
