Person Dies in Accident Involving Bus in Biel

A child riding a bicycle died in a collision with a bus in Biel BE on Wednesday afternoon. According to initial findings, the child fell to the ground for reasons yet to be determined and was subsequently hit by the bus. The child succumbed to their serious injuries at the scene of the accident, according to the Bern Cantonal Police. There were concrete indications of the child's identity, but formal identification was still pending. The child was travelling from Bözingen towards the city centre on Freiestrasse. A section of Freiestrasse was closed for several hours in the direction of the city centre for rescue and accident work. Various services of the Bern Cantonal Police, an ambulance team, specialists from the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the University of Bern, employees of the Biel Transport Company and the Police Inspectorate of the City of Biel were involved in the operation.
