At the train station in Gelterkinden BL, Postauto and SBB are planning to install a pilot charging station for electric buses powered by railway electricity. The project is scheduled to be put out to tender in the autumn, with the commissioning planned for December 2025. This is part of SBB's strategy to make use of their excess capacity in the railway power grid for public road transport. The railway power grid is designed for high performance, so no additional upgrades are necessary for the charging stations. Postauto aims to convert its fleet of around 2300 vehicles to fossil-free drives by the end of 2040. In addition to the purchase of electric buses, charging stations must also be set up at the end stops.nnnn
