The 41st Heidelberg Stückemarkt (26.4.-5.5.) opens with the world premiere of the play "Blaupause" by Leonie Lorena Wyss. This was announced by Theater und Orchester Heidelberg on Wednesday.

Leonie Lorena Wyss has won the prize for authors at the Heidelberg Play Market 2023 with "Blaupause". Wyss was born in Basel in 1997 and works in various collectives. In addition to writing, Wyss is also active in political education work. From the 2024/25 season, Wyss will be working as an in-house playwright at the Nationaltheater Mannheim. Wyss also won the Retzhofer Dramapreis 2023 for the play "Muttertier".

"Blueprint" is the story of a young queer woman. Looking back, she experiences growing up a second time: how she discovers her own desire, meets her first great love and loses him again because of his early death. "Entertaining, rhythmic and linguistically strong" is how Wyss tells the story of coming of age as a woman, "with great linguistic precision and touching humor", according to the press release.

On the first weekend of the festival, the Heidelberg Play Market will also present the six nominated plays from this year's competition for authors. One of the nominees is Anaïs Clerc from Fribourg, currently in-house playwright at Schauspiel Bern. Her nominated play is called "brennendes haus", a generational play in which three people suddenly talk to each other after all, dead and alive, fictional and real. The award ceremony will take place at the end of the 41st Heidelberg Play Market on May 5.

With the Stückemarkt, the Theater Heidelberg hosts one of the most important platforms for contemporary drama. Plays and productions from all over the German-speaking world are presented. The prize for authors is endowed with 10,000 euros.
