Poggia ahead of Sommaruga in Council of States elections in Geneva

According to preliminary results, MCG politician Mauro Poggia is clearly in the lead in the second round of the Council of States elections in Geneva. According to the results of the postal votes, he received around 10,000 votes more than the second-placed SP politician and current member of the Council of States, Carlo Sommaruga.

The Green Lisa Mazzone, the second previous representative of the canton of Geneva in the small chamber, was just behind Sommaruga with around 1200 votes. SVP politician Céline Amaudruz came in just under 4000 votes behind Mazzone.

The two candidates from the Liberté - Le Peuple d'abord (Liberty - The People First) list, Chloé Frammery and Anastasia-Natalia Ventouri, came a distant last. Voter turnout was 35.2 percent.
