Retour au fil d'actualité

President Alain Berset expressed optimism for the future of Switzerland despite the current crises, in his address at the Federal Celebration in Aegerten BE. He called for reforms, citing the war in Europe, climate crisis, rising prices, increasing healthcare costs and growing inequality in many countries as reasons for concern. He praised the 175-year-old Swiss Constitution, which was created after a civil war in a difficult time, as the basis for a successful Switzerland that is constantly evolving. Berset urged reforms for the future, comparing the construction of the railway in the young federal state to the current transformation of the “service public” into the digital age. He also called for a collective effort to secure pensions, provide good prospects for young people, promote gender equality and advance scientific progress. Finally, he praised the open, democratic and decent debate as the “greatest strength” of Switzerland. He noted that opponents are not enemies but citizens who may see things differently, and that everyone is working towards a successful, fair and sustainable Switzerland.
