Prisoner found dead in cell at Lenzburg JVA AG

A 40-year-old prisoner died in his cell at the Lenzburg correctional facility (JVA) in Lenzburg AG on Thursday night. Due to the circumstances, the authorities are assuming suicide. The public prosecutor's office is investigating the death.
The cantonal Department of Economic Affairs and Home Affairs announced on Friday that a forensic investigation is to provide clarity. Prison staff discovered the death on Thursday morning when they opened the cell.
According to initial investigations, there had been no signs of suicidal tendencies beforehand. The deceased man had been in prison for several years. According to the authorities, the last death in the Lenzburg correctional facility occurred in 2016 and the last suicide in 2012.
