British actor Ralph Fiennes walked the blue carpet in Lucerne on Saturday evening. He has been nominated for Best Actor at the European Film Awards for his film "Conclave".

Some people were waiting for him in the cold on Saturday evening who happened to be at a Christmas market outside the KKL and heard that Ralph Fiennes was coming: "When is Voldemort coming?" asked one young man. Fiennes ended up being one of the last guests to walk the blue carpet in Lucerne leading up to the 37th European Film Awards Gala.

The reason for Fiennes' appearance is not his villain role in the Harry Potter films, but his nomination as best actor for the Vatican thriller "Conclave". In it, he plays a very serious cardinal. When asked whether such serious roles particularly appealed to him, the actor immediately replied in the negative: "I have no preferences, I play everything," Ralph Fiennes told the Keystone-SDA news agency.

On the blue carpet, the British star also struck up a conversation with German actor Lars Eidinger, who is nominated in the same category as Fiennes. There was no sign of competition: they laughed good-humoredly and praised each other's work.
