Regeneration Causes Multiple Failures in Landslide Area Schwanden GL

On Friday to Sunday, Schwanden GL is at an increased risk of further mudslides. Due to the heavy rainfall, there have been more small collapses in the landslide area "Wagenrunse". Therefore, access to parts of the restricted zone is temporarily not allowed for the residents. The authorities are assessing when alternative dates for access with cars to the danger areas can be offered. Currently, two thirds of the sliding material is still on the slope. At the end of August, two mudslides completely destroyed half a dozen buildings in Schwanden and damaged others. Around 100 people had to be evacuated, but no one was injured.
