The train drivers' strike planned for Wednesday in Germany will lead to many cancellations on cross-border passenger services. Canceled connections on Swiss route sections will be replaced, as SBB announced on Tuesday.

Domestic traffic should not be affected as much as possible, as an SBB spokesperson told the Keystone-SDA news agency in response to an inquiry.

The restrictions will last from 2.00 a.m. on Wednesday until 6.00 p.m. on Friday. Night trains to Germany are also affected.

SBB recommends postponing journeys to or through Germany to another time. Thanks to a special goodwill gesture by Deutsche Bahn, travelers would be able to postpone their journeys and use their ticket earlier or later.

In Germany, the train drivers' union plans to strike for three days and severely restrict rail traffic. They are demanding shorter working hours with full pay compensation in freight and passenger transport.
