Schaffhausen SP National Councillor Martina Munz steps down

The Schaffhausen SP National Councillor Martina Munz has had enough of active politics. She is stepping down after eleven years in the National Council. She will be replaced by Linda De Ventura, who will be sworn in during the winter session.
The 68-year-old SP politician Munz was only elected to the National Council for a further term in October 2023. "My time as a National Councillor is coming to an end. My life remains political," Munz announced on Wednesday.
Her political career began in Schaffhausen's Klettgau region in the 1990s, after which she moved to the cantonal council. In 2013, she became the third woman from Schaffhausen to enter federal politics. At the time, she replaced Hans-Jürg Fehr, who had stepped down.
She is now vacating the seat on the National Council for Linda De Ventura. The 38-year-old has been active in the Schaffhausen Cantonal Council since 2015, first for the AL and then for the SP. She has been Vice President of the SP cantonal parliamentary group since 2023.
In the cantonal council, she is committed to making Schaffhausen more social, ecological and fair, the social worker states on her website. "I entered politics to take responsibility for a social Switzerland."
