Only five of the seven members of the St. Gallen government were elected on Sunday in the renewal elections. There will be a second round of voting on April 14.

Susanne Hartmann (center), Marc Mächler (FDP), Beat Tinner (FDP), Laura Bucher (SP) and Bruno Damann (center) have been elected. All of them were previously members of the St. Gallen government.

Two of the seven government seats could not be filled in the first round of voting. Dana Zemp (SVP) received the most votes of the new candidates, followed by Christof Hartmann (SVP), Bettina Surber (SP), Daniel Bosshard (Greens), the independent Sarah Bösch and Sarah Noger-Engeler (GLP).

Stefan Kölliker (SVP) and Fredy Fässler (SP) are no longer standing for re-election on March 3. The second round of voting will take place on April 14.
