In Zurich, several thousand participants marched through the city center on Wednesday under the slogan "Capitalism makes you sick". The procession was peaceful. The police were on site with a large contingent.
The final rally will take place on Sechseläutenplatz and will include a speech by Daniel Lampart, Managing Director of the Federation of Swiss Trade Unions.
The official parade of the Zurich Federation of Trade Unions is primarily mobilizing for a Yes vote on the premium relief initiative on 9 June. As always, many other groups also join the procession, including a large "Palestine block" this year.
In the afternoon, various radical left-wing organizations called for an unauthorized "Nachdemo" in Langstrasse, which usually ends with damage to property and riots.
Counterfeit bulky goods flyer
On Tuesday, the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper revealed that households in District 4 had received a fake flyer from the city of Zurich inviting them to put bulky items out for collection.
Left-wing radicals wanted to ensure that they would find enough projectiles and flammable material. The city emphasized that the flyer was fake. There was no bulky goods collection.
